This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for more information.

I wanted to take the time to review an app that offers real savings potential in the form of cashback. This Dosh app review will help shed some light on how to use the Dosh app. You’ll also learn what Dosh does, and what it can do for you.

In this Dosh app review, I’ll also share some things it might not be good for. Since Dosh requires you to link your credit or debit accounts, safety is obviously a top priority. So, I’ll also cover how Dosh takes protective measures to ensure your privacy and your security.

As the fastest-growing cashback app, Dosh Cash may be under your radar. If you’re wondering if this emerging cashback juggernaut is for real, allow me to present the facts. This will help you decide if Dosh Cash is the right cashback app for you.

    What Is The Dosh App?

The Dosh app is free, which is why it’s so easy to provide this Dosh App review. When you don’t have to pay for an app, you can be a little more lenient than if you pay a premium. I find that I get the most frustrated with those apps I have to pay for.

However, Dosh Cash is fairly easy to use and I don’t have many complaints. It does what it is supposed to do, which is earn cash back on my purchases. That’s actual cash back. Not points or gift cards. Cash.

Now, you don’t just download Dosh, start spending money and get a cash refund for all of your purchases. Dosh Cash works with affiliate brands, so you only get money back when you shop at those retailers. However, the list of affiliates is large and still growing.

When you shop at places like Walmart, Cost Plus World Market, Sephora, etc., you get automatic cash back. That means the money comes right to you through the Dosh app without you having to lift a finger. There are over 10,000 places to earn cash back on purchases through the Dosh app.

Plus Dosh curates offers just for you based on what you buy and where you shop from. When you get your money, it’s real money. You don’t have to convert it to points or use it to buy gift cards. You can transfer it to your bank account, Paypal or Venmo.

How Does The Dosh App Work?

    Connect Your Cards

The first thing you need to do when you set up your account in the Dosh app is to connect your financial cards. Whatever credit or debit cards you use regularly should be added in order to earn money back on your purchases.

When you connect your cards to Dosh Cash, you then have access to the money-back offers. To get cash back, make sure to spend on qualifying brands at any of the thousands of participating locations.

It’s usually when you’re asked to link your accounts that the, “Is this legit?” question starts running through your mind. The answer to that question is, “Yes!” The Dosh app is legit and your credit card info isn’t stored. More on that later.

    Transfer Cash Back

With your accounts linked, you are free to start earning your cash back. This is a great way to save money on purchases you would already normally make. Obviously, money back on purchases for necessities is a huge win.

But, the Dosh app also sends you specialized offers. However, this is a double-edged sword. It is extremely helpful that these offers point you toward the products you want and rewards you for buying them. But, it can also lead to spending more than you should on things you haven’t budgeted for

If you are on a strict budget, be aware of this offers feature. Stick to the automatic cash back feature without looking at the app too much.

The money you get back from your purchases goes into your Dosh wallet, which you can access through the app. Let the cash add up in your wallet until it reaches a balance of $25. You can then transfer the $25 to your bank account, Paypal, or Venmo.

When transferring your money, you even have the option to donate the money to charity. I love this feature because giving plays such a key role in money management. It affords all of us the opportunity to give even when we normally feel too strapped to be more generous.

What Can You Do With The Dosh App?

For my Dosh review, I want to focus on what I believe the Dosh app is best for. Dosh has many features that keep it relevant and make it more desirable for the brands they partner with. Mainly, this means the app is very easy to use, but it’s geared toward transacting as often as possible.

It’s in their best interest that you keep spending money to get more money back. Although the Dosh app is easy to use, I prefer to let it run automatically. That way, I benefit from the cashback on the spending I normally do.

The advertised deals on the app are targeted, though. Therefore, they are not just effective, but they may also be useful in helping you maximize the cashback you receive.

The Pros And Cons Of Targeted Marketing In The Dosh App

Obviously, the only way to “earn money” is to get cashback on your usual necessary purchases. On the other hand, if you can leverage the deals offered, it’s possible to maximize your earnings.

The danger comes in succumbing to advertisements for things you want, but don’t need. If you are on a tight budget and pinching every penny, that presents a problem. If you’re only interested in getting better deals and cashback, Dosh is a nice thing to have at your fingertips.

Remember, Dosh makes suggestions based on your purchases, so the offers are relevant even if they might cause you to spend more. How you take those suggestions is up to you, and largely depends on your current spending habits, budget, and goals. So, even though I say exercise caution, I love the freedom and the opportunity Dosh Cash provides.

Dosh can be used minimally; just watch the cash trickle back into your account. Or, you can aggressively spend money on brands that give you the most cash back. At the end of the day, you get to control where the money goes. You can move it to a personal account or contribute to a charity of your choosing.

I love that the money you earn is actual cash and I really appreciate the giving option. It’s further proof that this app is for everybody. No matter where you are in your personal finance journey, you are going to love using the Dosh app.

    Is The Dosh App Safe?

I don’t think many of us are concerned enough about where our personal information goes. Some businesses are so highly regulated, they can’t do anything with your personal information. However, other businesses thrive on betraying customer trust.

When you have to share your bank information, an alarm bell usually goes off. But ironically, financial businesses are the most highly regulated. That doesn’t mean that you should trust every app that asks for your account number.

What I am saying is that you should approach any app with healthy skepticism before it gets to that point. The real damage is most often done with your phone number or email address. As for Dosh, the app is safe. It’s a legit company and there is no scam associated with Dosh Cash.

Your personal information is safe with Dosh. They are committed at Dosh never to sell or share your personal data with any third party ever. Moreover, they keep your information secure using a high level of encryption (256 bit), as well as multi-factor and 2-factor identification.

Nobody has access to your account, your wallet stays safe, and your bank information is also secure. Dosh doesn’t even store that account info. It all goes to a secure Paypal-owned vault that holds account information for over 1 billion cards. It’s the world’s leading vaulting system.

What Is Dosh Not Good For?

Although I love using Dosh, I have found that it isn’t as good as it could be when it comes to online shopping. When so many of my purchases are often made online, I see this as a missed opportunity. I prefer to use the shopping portal Rakuten

Rakuten is better geared toward online shopping on your PC. However, I have to say Dosh is a good choice if you do your shopping on your mobile device. My advice is to use both and have them handy. That way, you always have a chance to get some money back on your purchases wherever you transact.

Overall, I’m very happy with the Dosh app and I love using it. It’s not a revenue source, but it’s one tool of many to keep in your back pocket. Dosh helps put some aside for saving, investing, or giving to a charitable cause without changing your personal habits.
